Catalyst Youth Ministries
Catalyst Youth Ministries was founded on July 27th, 2003. Due to some unfortunate circumstances, the youth group had been placed into a ‘transition’ phase in which a new youth pastor was needing to be selected. Instead of just having one youth pastor, a ‘youth board’ was formed and put into place by Michael McGuire, who felt that God was calling him to work with the youth program. The youth board consisted of five members, which helped create what is known today as Catalyst Youth Ministries.
Over time, members of the board were led into other areas of ministry, but Ronny Ownbey (an original member of the board) remained and then started to serve as a youth co-pastor with Michael. God then started to move Michael into other areas of ministry in the church, but Ronny has remained since the beginning and currently serves as our youth pastor for Catalyst Youth Ministries.
Catalyst Youth Ministries is based on one simple motto: ‘Live Life, By Example.‘ We believe that any young person can go anywhere and claim to be anything that they want, but the only TRUE proof of professing to be something you claim is to live that lifestyle as an example for everyone to see. In other words: Let your actions speak louder than your words. To be a ‘Christian’ means to live your life (to pattern your lifestyle) after the lifestyle of Christ. To take up your cross DAILY and to follow Him. Anyone can ‘talk the talk’, but it takes a firm believer to actually ‘walk the walk.’
1st Timothy 4:12 - ‘Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in faith, and in purity.’

Activities
Some of the things that you will find with Catalyst Youth Ministries are:
- Anual Winterfest/SonFest trip.
- On-Line PC Games: Battlefront, UO, DII, etc.
- Console Video games (Xbox, PS2, etc.) Guitar Hero is an all-time favorite!
- Outside activities: Volleyball, Horseshoes, Whiffle-Ball, etc.
- Gym activities (when open:) Basketball, ‘Battle-Ball’, ‘Bleacher’, etc.
- Movies (a large selection of clean movies, along with a 5.1 sound system.)
- Card & Board Games: ‘King Peasant’, HeroScape (youth favorite), Spades, Hearts, etc.
- ‘Upper Room’ Activities: Foosball, Air Hockey, Ping-Pong, etc.
- Food and drinks available at the youth house (money required).

Catalyst ‘Youth House’
There are many things that you will find that Catalyst Youth Ministries loves to do, but at the core of most of our activities is the ‘Catalyst Youth House.’ What is the Catalyst Youth House you ask? The youth house is a house that is next door to the church that was bought and turned into a facility that is used mainly by Catalyst Youth Ministries. When the house was first purchased, it was actually turned into a coffee house called ‘Holy Grounds.’ Holy Grounds turned the house into a place that had a relaxed atmosphere, served coffee style drinks, and even invited musical groups (both local and out of state) to come and play. It was very popular and catered to both youth and adults alike.
In the summer of 2003, shortly after Catalyst Youth Ministries was born, the house quickly took a change of pace. Coffee and live bands were moved out and replaced with video games and a jukebox full of Christian music, ranging from anything to rap and hip-hop, to rock and metal. Modern and contemporary furniture took an exit and things like foosball and air hockey tables moved in. The house quickly turned from a ‘coffee house’ to a ‘youth house’ and has been a favorite of the youth group ever since.

Wednesdays - 8:30 PM - 10:00 PM
Fridays - 7:00 PM - 11:00 PM
Sundays - 6:00 PM - 9:00 PM *
